What a Week!

Hello Families! We had such a great week! Thank you for all the participation in Red Ribbon Week! Today we learned a strategy for planning stories. We then created a scarecrow glyph. The class then began using the planning strategy we learned to plan a story about a scarecrow who comes to life, using their scarecrow as the main character! They really seemed to have fun with it. It really tested their ability to follow directions as they made their scarecrows. They were also applying the knowledge they gained for planning stories.
We got to see a play this afternoon put on by the Windy City Players called the "Emperors New Clothes". It was a great way to end such a fun week.
Please be safe in whatever you do this weekend, especially if trick-or-treating.
The only homework is to read for 60 minutes. Have a great weekend!
By the way, way to go on spelling tests today...kiddos must be studying!!!

Had a Great Monday!

Our class looked so good today decked out in red for Red Ribbon Week. Don't forget to wear cowboy boots and clothes or western wear to "give drugs a cowboy boot"!

We began learning Experimental Design today which will lead into our work with puff mobiles...the class seems excited!
Homework: Read 30 minutes, add 5 eet and 5 een words, and write 3 sight word sentences for first, journal, and hopeless.
When you all have a chance, could you purchase or bring a 1/4 inch flimsy binder to use as a science journal. Let me know if this is a problem so we can make other arrangements.
Please be safe in this wet weather...have a good evening! :)

WELCOME!

Well, if you are viewing this it means you received the newsletter that was sent home Friday!!! As stated in the newsletter, I am hoping that this will serve as another means of communication with families. My hopes are that it is effective for at least some of you AND that I can consistently keep you updated! I will TRY my best to keep you all posted, especially when necessary. One of our students thought this forum would be useful when students are absent so they can see what took place while they were out. So, I will especially try to post when any students are out. Just a reminder that students are encouraged to wear red on Monday to kick off Red Ribbon Week. Also, in addition to the 60 minutes of reading for the weekend, I have asked students to write an explanation for what they read. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)

Under Construction!

We are in the process of getting a blog for our class up and running!
