Book Talk...

I would like for you to share with us about the chapter book you are currently reading. Please let us know the title of your book and the author. As you discuss your book, tell us who the main character is and what kind of character they are. Are they nice, curious, compassionate, mean, easy going?... Maybe give us an event from your story that proves your statement. Also, describe the setting of your book and the problem your main character is dealing with. Finally, share with us your predictions for the solution/ending for the book.
Happy sharing!!! I can't wait to see your comments!

Lunch tomorrow has changed due to our Thanksgiving Feast. Our class will be eating lunch at 11:11 to 11:41. We hope to see you there. Please remember that our food drive will conclude on Friday. Please continue to bring donations Thursday and Friday.
As we are concluding our study of data, charts, and graphs, our class went to the computer lab to make computer-generated graphs. Students were doing great! We will have to resume our work at another time as the network crashed while we were working!
Have a great evening!

My name is Jimmy. Today my class started a new math workbook focused on TAKS skills. Tomorrow we will conduct a survey in math. Have a good night!

What a FUN Day!!!

Right now our class is touring our blog and learning how to post blogs themselves. As I have stated, students will be updating our blog daily, (hopefully)! Our class is learning all of the different functions of the blog, including uploading pictures, posting comments from home, posting a blog, and signing on as a follower. Elizabeth said, "I hope my mom will get on the blog today at home." Hope said, "I will be able to post a blog at school and then my classmates can see what I posted when they get home." Christopher said, "I think this is an awesome blog and I hope my mom will download a photo of me as a follower at home." Angel said, "Maybe my mom will go on the blog and can see what happens each school day." Jakob said, "I think this is exciting and fun!!!" Victoria said, "I think this is a great idea!"

Student Reporters

As you can see, a student reported on our blog today. As I teach the class about our blog, my goal is to allow students to keep our blog updated. I think it's a fun way to incorporate technology while allowing them to reflect on the day we had as they also work on communication skills. Hope you enjoy viewing student reports! :)

Our day...

Hi my name is Lauren. Today we worked on planning our scarecrow stories. I think planning stories first is helpful. Remember to bring pennies for R.I.F.

What a Week!

Hello Families! We had such a great week! Thank you for all the participation in Red Ribbon Week! Today we learned a strategy for planning stories. We then created a scarecrow glyph. The class then began using the planning strategy we learned to plan a story about a scarecrow who comes to life, using their scarecrow as the main character! They really seemed to have fun with it. It really tested their ability to follow directions as they made their scarecrows. They were also applying the knowledge they gained for planning stories.
We got to see a play this afternoon put on by the Windy City Players called the "Emperors New Clothes". It was a great way to end such a fun week.
Please be safe in whatever you do this weekend, especially if trick-or-treating.
The only homework is to read for 60 minutes. Have a great weekend!
By the way, way to go on spelling tests today...kiddos must be studying!!!

Had a Great Monday!

Our class looked so good today decked out in red for Red Ribbon Week. Don't forget to wear cowboy boots and clothes or western wear to "give drugs a cowboy boot"!

We began learning Experimental Design today which will lead into our work with puff mobiles...the class seems excited!
Homework: Read 30 minutes, add 5 eet and 5 een words, and write 3 sight word sentences for first, journal, and hopeless.
When you all have a chance, could you purchase or bring a 1/4 inch flimsy binder to use as a science journal. Let me know if this is a problem so we can make other arrangements.
Please be safe in this wet weather...have a good evening! :)

WELCOME!

Well, if you are viewing this it means you received the newsletter that was sent home Friday!!! As stated in the newsletter, I am hoping that this will serve as another means of communication with families. My hopes are that it is effective for at least some of you AND that I can consistently keep you updated! I will TRY my best to keep you all posted, especially when necessary. One of our students thought this forum would be useful when students are absent so they can see what took place while they were out. So, I will especially try to post when any students are out. Just a reminder that students are encouraged to wear red on Monday to kick off Red Ribbon Week. Also, in addition to the 60 minutes of reading for the weekend, I have asked students to write an explanation for what they read. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)
